About inSIG

The India School of Internet Governance (inSIG) was first held in 2016 at Hyderabad (just prior to the ICANN57 meeting). inSIG has the twin objectives of training and equipping individuals to participate in global Internet Governance processes, and also to help create a community of IG specialists within India. inSIG2016 trained 44 participants from 9 countries, with 22 speakers from 12 countries addressing the participants. The programme was organized by ISOC-Trivandrum and ISOC-Delhi, both member ALSes of APRALO, and was supported by NIXI, Govt of India; ICANN; ISOC; APSIG; APNIC and IIIT-Hyderabad.

The Second edition of the India School of Internet Governance is scheduled to be held at Travancore Hall, Technopark, Trivandrum, Kerala, during 24-26 October 2017. The class timings are 9:00 am – 7:30 pm. Selected participants should plan to reach Trivandrum on the evening of 23rd Oct 2017, and can depart at 5:00 pm on 26 October.

inSIG2017 is expected to have the following participant structure:

  1. India Fellows (25 seats) with travel, accommodation and fee waiver support depending on the budget
  2. International Fellows (15 seats) with/without fee waiver
  3. Local Participants (seats depending on capacity) with/without fee waiver

All Fellows (1 and 2 above) are required to apply in the Fellowship Application form (see under ‘Fellowship’ tab). Local participants will be selected through a separate local process after ascertaining the number of seats available.

Fellowships Applications will be open from 20 July 2017 to 15 Aug 2017. Results will be communicated by 1 September 2017.

Who can apply?

Any individual from India, from any stakeholder community (Government, Business, Civil Society, Technical or Academia), who has an interest in Internet Governance, and has in the past contributed or wishes to contribute to IG processes, may apply for this programme as an Indian Fellow.

Any individual from any part of the world can apply as an International Fellow. Fee waiver may be provided to selected participants based on funding availability. International Fellows are expected to raise funds for their travel and accommodation charges, although accommodation may be arranged by inSIG2017 organizers on request.

Selection Criteria

Fellowship applicants will be selected by the Selection Committee based on different criteria such as background, experience and contributions, and keeping in mind parameters such as geographical and gender balance and diversity.


All candidates who attend the full programme and complete all assignments given to them will be issued a certificate of completion.

Sharing of Teaching Material

inSIG proposes to share teaching material (background papers, video recordings of sessions etc) with other SIGs in the region based on a consensus at APSIG level.
