Vivan Sharan is a partner in Koan Advisory Group, a technology policy consulting firm based in New Delhi. He works on the political economy of technology markets and advises Fortune 500 companies, international organizations and governments.
Vivan works on diverse public interest issues. He is on board of the Esya Centre — an innovation policy think tank in New Delhi, and is an Advisor to ‘SITARA’, India’s first Science Indigenous Technology & Advanced Research Accelerator. He is also a co-founder and board member of Savikalpa Sciences — an R&D-based healthcare company.
Vivan has a Masters in Economics from the University of Edinburgh, and a Bachelors in Mathematics from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi. He writes on technology and innovation for the Hindustan Times, The Mint, and other leading Indian news dailies, and is the author of “Wonked!: India in Search of an Economic Ideology” (Bloomsbury) in 2019; and of “The Dazzle of the Digital: Unbundling India Online” (Routledge) in 2022.
