Fellow – Research and Policy Engagement
Shivangi Narayan is a sociologist/anthropologist of technology. She has a career spanning a decade where she looked at the implications of algorithmic governance, especially in the context of the Police, and its impact on the marginalised. Her book, “Predictive Policing and the Construction of the Criminal – An Ethnographic Study of Delhi Police” was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2023. She has an MPhil and PhD in Sociology from Centre for Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. At IT For Change, she is interested to look at the wider areas of AI and data governance and of the digital, both at the national and global level.
Prior to being a researcher, Shivangi was a tech policy journalist in Delhi and an electronics and communications engineer. She is interested in music and wants to become a trained Hindustani Classical Singer one day.
