Update on inSIG2017

inSIG2017 concluded successfully after three days of intensive interactions, discussions, knowledge-sharing, and fun. Participants who came in as virtual strangers left with as friends, firm in their conviction that they were an integral part of the Internet Governance community.

The second edition of inSIG brought together 88 participants, including 63 Fellows from 5 countries, 15 Speakers from 6 countries, and the event Secretariat. The feedback from participants and speakers has been excellent.

The event has been documented through over 1200 Tweets and over 800 photographs. The videos of sessions will be uploaded at the inSIG channel on Youtube and most speaker presentations will be available from the Programme page.

The inSIG2017 Organizing Team thanks all sponsors, speakers and participants for an excellent edition of the inSIG. The future editions of inSIG are scheduled for New Delhi (2018) and Kolkata (2019).

The Second Edition of the India School of Internet Governance is scheduled to be organized during 24-26 October 2017 at the Travancore Hall, Technopark, Trivandrum.

The first edition of the India SIG was convened in Oct-Nov 2016 at IIIT Hyderabad, immediately prior to the ICANN57 meeting held at the same city. The event had 44 participants from 9 countries and 22 speakers from 12 countries. More details of the first edition are available here.

The 2017 edition of inSIG builds on the vision and design of the first version, and aims to build a community of IG professionals in India as well as in the broader South Asia region of Asia-Pacific, who can effectively participate in global Internet Governance Process. The event is also a forum to discuss topical issues of specific relevance to India.

inSIG2017 will bring together about 70 participants (including 30 Indian and 7 International Fellows), and about 15 experts from India, and abroad. A special run-up event aimed at equipping students and researchers to participate in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) process is being scheduled on 23 Oct 2017 as a run-up adjunct event to inSIG2017 (for more details, please see the Run-up menu).
